Fredrik Aursnes will be absent for Benfica throughout March after a re-evaluation confirmed he faces at least a month out.
O Jogo reports that the midfielder could get minutes against Nacional on 12 April to build rhythm, then aim to feature at Alvalade for Sporting v Benfica.
He will miss the matches against Arouca, Vitória de Guimarães and Casa Pia as he focuses on a full recovery.
José Mourinho had previously said Aursnes had been at risk for weeks, and that being substituted soon after the interval made him suspect the problem was more serious than it first appeared.
This season the Norway international has played 43 games for Benfica, 22 in Liga Portugal Betclic, 14 in the Champions League, four in the Taça de Portugal, two in the Taça da Liga and one in the Supertaça. Across 3,635 minutes he has scored four goals and provided seven assists. He is valued at 17 million euros.
