L’Équipe report tonight that Auxerre are looking to bring in a striker this winter following the departure of Gaëtan Charbonnier for Ligue 2 side Saint-Étienne, with Janis Antiste of Sassuolo a target.
The relegation battlers have enquired over the possibility of a move for the French youth international, having already brought in two other prospects on loan this month in forward Matthis Abline from Rennes and defender Isaak Touré from Marseille. They currently find themselves in 18th place, with the second-worst attack in the league on 16 scored.
The Neroverdi are open to letting the 20-year-old go out on loan to the Burgundy side. Now in his second season on the other side of the Alps – he turned out for Spezia last year – Antiste has one goal in two Serie A appearances so far this campaign. In his last campaign in France, he scored seven times for his formative club Toulouse in Ligue 2.
