Axel Disasi is close to a loan switch from Chelsea to Crystal Palace, with the deal now into its final stages.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the clubs have agreed a season-long loan, with a fee involved and his wages to be covered during the campaign.

The France international is due to undergo a medical on Friday to complete the move. If all goes to plan, he will spend the season with Crystal Palace rather than remain at Chelsea.

The 28-year-old had been linked with Benfica in this window as a possible reinforcement at centre-back. His versatility was also viewed as a plus, as he can play at right-back.

Capped five times by France, Disasi also spent the second half of last season with West Ham, making 17 appearances. Another London chapter now beckons with Crystal Palace.
