Third win in third home match?

It has been about a month since our women’s team last played at the Red Bull Football Academy. Now, following four consecutive away games, they are to return home for the match against SCR Altach. Officiated by referee Heike Leitinger, the match kicks off at 14:30 CEST on Saturday, marking the start of Matchday 6 in the ADMIRAL Women's Bundesliga. Admission is free as always, and for those unable to attend in person, ORF Sport+ will be broadcasting the clash.

Our rivalry with Altach was a defining storyline from last season. Dusan Pavlovic’s squad qualified for the Championship Group at the very last moment at Altach's expense. This was likely due in part to the head-to-head record: our home debut under the FC Red Bull Salzburg banner (a 1–1 draw) was against Altach, and we managed to secure all three points in the away fixture. Simonelli’s team took a little time to find their feet this season, but after opening losses to Sturm Graz and St. Pölten, Altach have now hit their stride - with an upturn in form culminating in a 10–0 win over Rankweil in an ÖFB Women's Cup local derby.

It is no surprise, then, that matches involving the team from western Austria guarantee excitement - a league-high 16 goals have been scored in the four matches Altach has played so far. For Katja Wienerroither and her teammates, however, the main priority is carrying the momentum from their 15–1 win over SV Telfs into this game and putting the three defeats against Austria’s top trio behind them with a strong performance.

Draw brings home tie

Our opponents for the Cup's Round of 16 were drawn this afternoon! Dusan Pavlovic’s side face FC Blau-Weiß Linz/Kleinmünchen at the Saalachspitz - in a rematch of last season’s quarter-final. The Round of 16 tie takes place on November 7 or 8.
