‘Back In Training’ – Leeds United Transfer Deal Now In Doubt | OneFootball

Leeds United‘s swoop for Eintracht Frankfurt goalkeeper Michael Zetterer is in doubt.

The Whites have seen major change in the goalkeeping ranks this summer, with the standout signing of James Trafford promising to hand the club a new number 1 for the long term.

Karl Darlow and Illan Meslier have gone, while Lucas Perri is keen to go as he seeks regular game time, though an expected move to Torino has hit choppy waters and may not happen.

Leeds have been moving to sign cover for Trafford and it has seemed that Zetterer is the man they have turned to, with the goalkeeper even flying to England at the weekend.

It emerged that Leeds were expected to pay a €5m fee for the goalkeeper to sign him from Eintracht Frankfurt.

Things may now have changed however as, according to German journalist Christopher Michel, Zetterer is ‘back in training’ at Eintracht Frankfurt.

It is suggested that ‘things are quiet again’ regarding a potential move out of the club for the shot-stopper.

Zetterer was signed by Eintracht Frankfurt from Werder Bremen for a fee of €5m last summer and made 22 appearances in the Bundesliga last term.

Leeds boss Daniel Farke has regularly liked to turn to German football for potential signings and why a move for Zetterer looks to have died down is unclear.

The Whites do have time to make further additions before the transfer window closes and are expected to do business.

Leeds started their campaign on a positive note by visiting Nottingham Forest and running out 1-0 winners, thanks to a superb free-kick goal from Anton Stach.

Farke is preparing Leeds to face the same opposition on Tuesday evening, again at the City Ground, in the EFL Cup.

Leeds enjoyed a good cup run last term, reaching the semi-finals of the FA Cup, and Farke will be keen to enjoy another run this term.
