Eintracht Frankfurt parting with goalkeeper Michael Zetterer to Leeds United ‘is expected to bring’ in around €5m for the Bundesliga club.

The Whites are seeing major changes in the goalkeeping department this summer, with Karl Darlow and Illan Meslier already having departed and Lucas Perri expected to also head through the door.

German shot-stopper Zetterer is someone Daniel Farke wants to come in and provide cover for new number 1 James Trafford.

Zetterer has been keen to stay at Eintracht Frankfurt for family reason and his agent played down talk his client was moving to Leeds.

Now though things have changed quickly and the goalkeeper flew to England on Saturday to progress a move to the Whites.

It appears that Zetterer will be the latest fresh face through the door at Elland Road and now the fee that Leeds will pay for him looks to have emerged.

There had been a suggestion of a season-long loan with an option to buy, but it seems Leeds could well just buy Zetterer.

According to German daily the Frankfurter Rundschau, Zetterer’s move to Leeds ‘is expected to bring’ in a fee of €5m, but talks are still ongoing on the final details.

That sum would be the same amount that Eintracht Frankfurt forked out to sign Zetterer last summer from fellow German side Werder Bremen.

It remains to be seen why Zetterer has suddenly backtracked on his desire to stay at Eintracht Frankfurt, where he managed 22 Bundesliga outings last season.

At Leeds, the 31-year-old could well be handed opportunities in cup competitions by Farke, but the path to Premier League action is blocked by Trafford.

Zetterer has played his football outside Germany before, with a stint in Austria at Austria Klagenfurt and also in the Netherlands, where he turned out for Zwolle.
