Barcelona and Athletic Club directors coincide in Germany | OneFootball

The ongoing European Championship is an important tournament for FC Barcelona by itself. Given the number of Barça players present at the tournament, it hardly comes as a surprise. Particularly when it comes to the Spanish National team, many Barcelona players are still present to represent La Roja.

Thus, it becomes important for the Catalan club to keep a close eye on the tournament either way. To see the progression of their own players, Barça continues to stay in touch with the proceedings of the Euros, but it now appears that there is another incentive as well.

As highlighted by Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona director Deco has also traveled to Munich now to watch Spain take on France in person. The much anticipated Euro semi-final between two heavyweights will now be seen by Deco, but also by Athletic Club sports director Mikel Gonzalez.

As it stands, the main priority for both directors is reportedly going to be Nico Williams. The 21-year-old Athletic Club winger has been heavily linked to Barcelona in recent weeks, and the latest updates have all leaned towards the player possibly signing for the Catalan giants before the summer window closes.

The coincidence of Mikel Gonzalez being there also seems to further back this theory. However, beyond just the scouting and evaluation of Nico Williams, Deco may have some other objectives as well. The likes of Lamine Yamal, Fermin Lopez, Ferran Torres, and Jules Kounde will all be active participants as representatives of Barcelona for Spain and France respectively.

Seeing both directors coincide in Germany is certainly a curious sight and ordeal. However, it is hardly surprising given the developments that have taken place in recent days concerning both Barcelona and Athletic Club. Nico Williams, without a doubt, will be one of the key talks of this summer and his future is of massive importance to Barça at the moment.
