In a recent report, Fichajes mentioned that Barcelona are showing interest in Atalanta midfielder Ederson next year. It has been stated that the Catalan club are eyeing a move to acquire the services of the Brazilian talent.
Ederson has put in a run of impressive displays at the centre of the Atalanta midfield this season. The Brazilian midfield ace has featured in 12 matches for the Italian club in this campaign so far, scoring one goal and picking up one assist in the process across all fronts.
The 26-year-old has anchored the midfield well as he has made 15 tackles, six blocks, four interceptions and six clearances in Serie A. He has even distributed possession accurately from midfield after completing 90.4% of his attempted passes in the Italian top tier (stats via fbref.com).
His current contract at the Serie A club will run out in the summer of 2027, which could open the door for Barcelona to sign him on the cheap next year.

Ederson is a tough-tackling midfielder who can scan the danger well to secure the ball back for his team inside his half. He usually puts his foot through the ball when the opposition are on the front foot and is a tidy passer as well.
The Brazilian sensation can even chip in by scoring and creating the odd goal from midfield. Ederson is primarily a box-to-box midfielder but can also fill in as a defensive midfielder or play in the number ten position if needed. However, only time will tell whether he can make a smooth transition to life in La Liga.
We can expect Ederson to bring more bite and steel to Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick’s midfield department. He is more than capable of earning a regular first-team spot at the Nou Camp.
At 26, Ederson has got his peak years ahead of him, which makes him a worthy target for the Catalan club to pursue this January or at the end of this campaign. However, Flick has to give him some time to settle into life in Spain before he can get the best out of the player at Barcelona.
