FC Barcelona have confirmed when the first team will return temporarily to Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys in Montjuic and when the redevelopment of Spotify Camp Nou is expected to be fully completed.
Club treasurer Ferran Olive provided the clearest explanation yet of the remaining construction timeline during Saturday’s General Assembly after answering a question from one of the attending members.
According to Olive, Barcelona will play at the Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys between June 2027 and January 2028, while the roof structure is installed at the Camp Nou.
The stadium is then expected to be fully completed during the 2028/29 season, with a capacity of 105,000 spectators.
As such, the Blaugrana are expected to play the entirety of the 2026/27 season at the Camp Nou.

By the end of the ongoing campaign, the stadium is projected to have approximately 75,000 seats available.
The next phase of the redevelopment will then require the team to leave the stadium temporarily.
Once the 2026/27 season ends, Barcelona will return to Montjuic, where they spent two and a half years before returning to Camp Nou last November.
The Blaugrana expect to play at Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys between June 2027 and January 2028, with the period dedicated to installing the Camp Nou’s roof structure.
The roofing work is expected to be completed as early as November, but the club is allowing itself until January as a precaution in its planning and budgeting.
There is also a UEFA consideration. Unless the club receives exceptional permission, Champions League regulations do not allow a team to change its home venue during the league phase of the competition.

As such, Barcelona are expected to return to the Camp Nou during the second half of the 2027/28 season.
By then, the stadium should have a capacity of approximately 95,000 seats, allowing the club to move back before the final stage of the redevelopment is completed.
The rest of the work is scheduled to be completed during summer 2028. From that point, the stadium will be considered fully operational for the 2028/29 season, with its final capacity of 105,000 spectators.
That will also be the season in which the new Camp Nou is scheduled to host the Champions League final, with UEFA having awarded the event to Barcelona. The final is scheduled for 2 June 2029.
