FC Barcelona experienced a significant disruption to their transfer plans two days ago when the winger Roony Bardghji tore his ACL during a training session. The Swede was one of the players the Blaugranes were looking to offload this summer, but with this injury, there is no possibility of his departure this summer.
The Catalan club itself revealed through an official medical statement that the forward was suffering from a torn ACL, and that he would have to undergo surgery, a few hours after the player was injured.
Now, as Mundo Deportivo has reported, Bardghji has already undergone surgery, and Barcelona again released an official statement to confirm that it was successful. This procedure was undertaken at Hospital de Barcelona by Dr Carles Monllau, and overseen by the club’s medical department. However, no timeframe for the winger’s recovery was revealed.
This latest problem has arisen in the player’s right knee, the same one in which he had also suffered a serious problem back in April 2024, when he was still playing for FC Copenhagen. He missed ten months of action at that time, and joined the Blaugrana club shortly after his recovery.
However, his first season at the Catalan club did not go exactly as planned, as he played in the same position as one of the team’s biggest stars, Lamine Yamal, and thus did not get a lot of minutes. As a result, Barcelona were looking for a new team for him, but this injury has derailed their plans.
Roony Bardghji received several messages of support after undergoing this surgery, including from his teammates and his former club. It remains to be seen how much time he will need to recover and to get back to the pitch, but hopefully, this painful time will pass soon and he will once again get back to his best level.
