Barcelona crowd send message to Lionel Messi during Camp Nou comeback | OneFootball

The home crowd in attendance at Barcelona’s meeting with Athletic Club on Saturday made use of the opportunity to send a message to club icon Lionel Messi.

This of course comes fresh off the veteran attacker paying a surprise visit to Catalunya’s capital last week.

Based in Spain for a training camp with Argentina, Messi made the trip to the Spotify Camp Nou, to check out the renovations and upgrades at his former stomping ground.

The significance of as much was not at all lost on those of a Barcelona persuasion, who were quick to express their delight with the news.

And as alluded to above, a week later, the buzz surrounding Messi’s visit has still not died down.

Hansi Flick’s troops are of course currently locked in action, in a La Liga meeting with former boss Ernesto Valverde’s Athletic Club.

And in the 10th minute of the fixture, the home fans came together to belt out collective chants of:

‘Messi! Messi! Messi!’
