Earlier in the day, it was reported that Jules Kounde recently spoke to Hansi Flick regarding a potential position change.
The report claimed that the Frenchman approached Flick about his desire to play at centre-back, especially after the development surrounding Ronald Araujo.
This came against the backdrop of Barcelona’s ongoing defensive woes, especially with Araujo being ruled out indefinitely due to mental health concerns.
However, Kounde has categorically denied this rumour through social media and in a quite savage fashion as well.
The Frenchman reposted the original tweet by COPE, the source of the rumour and replied with a GIF that shows a truth or lie detection meter.
Needless to say, the GIF shows the meter tilting completely towards the lie, implying that the rumour about him talking to Flick about a position change is completely false.
Kounde has been serving as Barcelona’s right-back for quite some time now and has done so throughout the entirety of Flick’s tenure at the club.
Last season, the French international was one of the best-performing right-backs in La Liga. But his performances have dipped significantly this time around, leading to concerns around the Barcelona camp.
But despite the drop in performances, it appears Kounde is not coercing Flick or anyone at Barcelona into returning to his previous role as a centre-back.
That being said, Barcelona are in dire need of a new face in the defensive unit, especially if Araujo continues to remain out.
It will be interesting to see if the Catalans approach a new player in the upcoming January transfer window, although the likely outcome will be the club waiting until the summer of 2026 unless something drastic happens.
