Barcelona’s bet on Vitor Roque earlier in the summer did not go as planned. The former Athletico PR forward joined the club with high hopes and expectations.

But six months later, Roque had to be loaned out to Real Betis after the forward failed to impress either Xavi or new coach Hansi Flick.

However, Roque’s struggles have not deterred Barcelona from continuing its scouting mission in Brazil. In fact, the Catalan outfit have already identified their next big target in the Brazilian market.

Barcelona to compete Real Madrid for Vitor Reis

According to Fichajes, Barcelona’s next target is Vitor Reis, the 18-year-old defensive sensation from Palmeiras.

Vitor Reis has emerged as one of the most coveted talents in world football. With his impressive performances, Reis has caught the attention of several top European clubs, including Barcelona and their eternal rivals, Real Madrid.

The two La Liga giants find themselves in a fierce battle for his signature, alongside English clubs Arsenal and Liverpool, who are also closely monitoring the young Brazilian’s development.

Barcelona scouts have been a regular presence at Palmeiras matches, providing glowing reports on the defender’s capabilities and potential fit within the Blaugrana’s philosophy.

However, Real Madrid has been equally active, sending their own representatives to assess the young talent.

It must be noted that Los Blancos are still fresh from reaching an agreement with Palmeiras over Endrick, who has already hit the ground running in Spain.

Palmeiras, aware of the mounting interest, are in no rush to part with their prized asset. With a contract running until 2028, they hold a strong position in any negotiation.

Any club hoping to sign Reis will need to meet a hefty price tag, so it will be interesting to see how this transfer saga unfolds in the coming months.
