The future of Alex Remiro remains one of the more intriguing goalkeeper situations in the transfer market.
With his contract at Real Sociedad running until 2027, the Spanish international is attracting growing interest from several clubs across Europe, including FC Barcelona.
Now, according to Mundo Deportivo, Aston Villa have emerged as one of the most serious contenders to sign Remiro.
Manager Unai Emery and the club’s recruitment team have reportedly been monitoring the goalkeeper for some time. Their interest has intensified as uncertainty grows around the future of current number one Emiliano Martinez.

With Martinez strongly linked to a move away from Villa Park, the club are actively evaluating potential replacements, and Remiro has emerged as one of the leading candidates.
Villa are not the only club keeping tabs on the Spanish goalkeeper. Fellow Premier League clubs Crystal Palace, Newcastle United, and Serie A giants Napoli are also tracking him.
While no formal negotiations have been publicly confirmed, the growing list of interested clubs highlights Remiro’s strong reputation throughout European football.
One factor making Remiro particularly attractive for Barcelona and other suitors is his expected transfer fee.
Although he remains under contract, the veteran Spaniard could be available for a figure below €15 million, a relatively modest amount for a goalkeeper of his experience and quality.
That affordability increases his appeal for clubs seeking proven performers without committing to the enormous fees often associated with elite goalkeepers.

Barcelona continue to monitor the situation, Aston Villa are increasing their interest, and several other European clubs remain attentive. At the same time, Real Sociedad are still exploring the possibility of extending his stay.
Any move from Barça’s part, though, will largely depend on Deco & co. first resolving the overcrowding in the goalkeeping department.
Joan Garcia will remain the undisputed starter, but there are doubts over Wojciech Szczesny’s ability to serve as the backup. Moreover, the likes of Marc-Andre ter Stegen, Inaki Pena, and Aron Yaakobishvili will return from loan and will need their futures addressed.
Once the situation is resolved and provided there is room for a signing, Barça could move for Remiro. But, as things stand, signing the veteran Spaniard is not a priority.
