New information has been added to the growing uncertainty surrounding Robert Lewandowski’s future at Barcelona

According to a fresh report from Mundo Deportivo, the Polish striker recently held a discreet but significant meeting that could influence the next chapter of his career.

On Sunday, Lewandowski met with senior figures from Major League Soccer side Chicago Fire at one of Barcelona’s hotels.

The encounter was not accidental nor informal. It was a carefully arranged discussion in which the American club laid out the foundations of an ambitious proposal aimed directly at the veteran forward.

Importantly, Lewandowski was not alone during the meeting, as he was accompanied by his long-time representative, Pini Zahavi.

Chicago Fire are quite serious

The proposal presented by Chicago Fire goes beyond a standard sporting offer, as it includes a strong sporting project combined with a major financial package, backed by commercial and marketing incentives.

From Lewandowski’s perspective, the offer is seen in a positive light. However, the striker is not feeling any urgency to make an immediate decision about his future.

Lewandowski’s contract is set to expire at the end of the season. While the striker remains comfortable in the city and would be open to continuing at the club, Barcelona’s stance is far less certain.

Internally, there is a growing sense that the club does not fully share the idea of extending the partnership under the same terms, particularly given the forward’s age and salary.

Meanwhile, Chicago Fire’s interest is not new. The MLS club has been monitoring Lewandowski’s situation for some time, and this latest meeting confirms that their interest has moved into a more concrete phase.

The proposal was personally delivered by Gregg Berhalter, the sporting director of the American club, who used the meeting to sound out the striker about a possible move in the summer.

Despite the scale of the offer, Lewandowski is approaching the situation calmly. He is weighing not just the financial appeal but also his long-term sporting ambitions.
