Over the last couple of years, Barcelona have started to put more of a focus on targeting younger players in the transfer market. They’ve added highly-rated teenagers into the La Masia setup, and in the years to come, they could start signing them directly for the first team.

Sporting director Deco is the man in charge of identifying targets, and he is the one that has led this shift in transfer policy. He sees a lot of value in the market of younger players, and according to MD, five in particular have caught his eye.

The most high-profile name on the list is Lennart Karl. The 18-year-old has been a revelation since breaking into the Bayern Munch first team fold over the last 12-18 months, and Barcelona see him as a player that could add a lot of quality to their squad. This is also the case for Kees Smit, who is someone that has exploded at AZ Alkmaar, to the point that a move to the European elite is expected to happen this summer.

FC Porto’s Rodrigo Mora is also a player that Barcelona are monitoring, having been impressed with the development he has made over the last couple of years. Lewis Miley, former teammate of new signing Anthony Gordon, is valued too, and he could be a solution to the Catalans’ problems at right-back, a position that he has mastered for the Premier League club in the last 12 months. The final name on the list is Ibrahim Maza, who had a productive 2025-26 season at Bayer Leverkusen.

Will any sign this summer?

Of the five names mentioned, none of them play as strikers or centre-backs, which are the two positions that Barcelona are prioritising after closing the Gordon deal. As a result, it would be a surprise if any of them joined this summer, but they could be ones to watch for the coming years.
