Barcelona continue to remain very interested in Cameroonian striker Etta Eyong, viewing him as one of the top signings for the next season.
According to SPORT, the Blaugrana have closely followed the player since last summer. In fact, in the final days of the summer transfer window, the club tried to bring him in, but there was no financial space to make it happen.
At that time, it was already clear that Eyong wanted to join Barcelona, placing them above other European clubs pursuing him.
Barça had discussions with the striker’s representatives and even considered making a move.
Eyong waited for the club until the last moment, but eventually signed for Levante in a deal which included an option for Villarreal to buy him.
His release clause jumped from €10 million to €30 million, and Eyong accepted the move as it guaranteed him regular first-team football.
This decision has boosted his profile significantly, making him a more valuable asset in European football.

Barcelona had planned to bring Eyong on loan last summer to gain experience in top-flight football, something he is currently achieving at Levante.
The summer deal would have been a bargain, but circumstances made it impossible. Now, the operation involves higher figures, though they remain reasonable considering Eyong’s age and rising performance.
The Blaugrana continue to monitor Eyong closely and are confident he would prioritise a move to Camp Nou if the opportunity comes again.
His non-negotiable price is currently €30 million, as Premier League clubs are also ready to pay that amount.
Next season, Barcelona faces a key decision about their striker situation. Robert Lewandowski could stay for another year, even in a reduced role with a lower salary.
Regardless, Barcelona want to sign a new ‘9’, and Eyong remains a serious option.
