FC Barcelona return to La Liga action after taking on Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Champions League. Despite that game providing far from an ideal result or a performance worth talking about, Barça now have a chance to bounce back and reclaim the top spot in La Liga at least.
To do that, however, the opponent they will have to beat is Sevilla. Moreover, the Catalan giants will be playing away from home, and this is a game that promises to be a complicated fixture for La Blaugrana if they want all three points.
First things first, the starting lineup will be a massive headache for Flick to resolve and tackle here. After all, both Lamine Yamal and Raphinha are now out injured and currently sidelined, and considering the other injuries as well, Barça will need to carefully assess their options.
Beyond that, however, the Catalan giants do have the backing of a strong league form this season. So far, Flick’s side is unbeaten in La Liga, and that is how they will want to keep things moving forward.
Over the course of their last five games, Barcelona have four wins and one loss. The loss, as mentioned before, came just recently to PSG, while the wins all came in La Liga and against Newcastle United in the Champions League.
In terms of their goalscoring form, La Blaugrana have scored 11 goals in the last five games but have also conceded five goals in return. To put it simply, the team continues to have excellent attacking prowess, but they are defensively vulnerable as well.
Sevilla, on the other hand, are currently sitting in 10th place in the league table. Despite that, their recent form showcases that this is a team worth taking very seriously. With three wins, one draw, and one loss in their last five games, they are truly a force to be reckoned with as well.
Moreover, they have scored eight goals in those five games and have conceded five goals in return. Ironically, however, their form has been better away from home than it has been at home, where they are yet to win a La Liga game this season.
Ultimately, this game promises to be a complicated affair for Flick’s men, and they will need to be on their toes during this fixture. Right now, the goal is to bounce back from the PSG defeat and aim for victory in this fixture.
