Following the defeat to Paris Saint-Germain, FC Barcelona have another challenge awaiting them as they face Sevilla in their next La Liga game, which is scheduled to take place today, on Sunday.
As has been the case since the start of this new season, Hansi Flick will once again have to make several changes to his starting lineup for this game, some of them due to injuries, while others keeping in view the demands of the opponent facing them.
As Mundo Deportivo has noted, the area where the German coach will be forced to make the most of changes is the forward line, as all of Lamine Yamal, Raphinha, and Fermin Lopez are unavailable for this game.
As a result, Flick is expected to deploy a new attacking quartet featuring Marcus Rashford and Ferran Torres on the wings, Dani Olmo operating as the central attacking midfielder, and Robert Lewandowski leading the line. However, the German coach also has the option of using Roony Bardghji in place of Ferran, offering a slightly different dynamic out wide.
In midfield, the preferred pairing of Frenkie de Jong and Pedri is likely to feature again, as Flick continues to rely on their control and creativity. Marc Casado remains an alternative if the coach opts for a more balanced or defensive setup.
Meanwhile, Wojciech Szczesny will start in the Barcelona goal, and Jules Kounde and Alejandro Balde will take their positions on the flanks.
Flick has regularly rotated his centre-back pairing this season, making at least one change in seven of Barcelona’s nine official matches. Against PSG, he chose Pau Cubarsi and Eric Garcia, but there is a strong chance Ronald Araujo and Andreas Christensen will start together this time.
With key wingers sidelined and rotation once again on the cards, Flick’s side will need to show both flexibility and sharpness to secure a vital win on the road.
