The future of Marc Casado was the last remaining puzzle in this transfer deadline day.

The midfielder, who is not a part of Hansi Flick’s summer plans, had been linked with a permanent move away from Camp Nou throughout this transfer window.

But after weeks of speculation, it appears Casado is finally set to leave Barcelona, with just hours remaining before the end of the transfer window.

According to Matteo Moretto, Casado is set for a last-minute loan move to Deportivo La Coruna.

The deal has already been finalised by both parties and it appears only a matter of time before the move gets officiated.

Casado is expected to join Deportivo la Coruna on a simple loan deal until the end of the season. Barcelona are expected to bear a large portion of the salary.

That means the midfielder is slated to return to Barcelona next summer, when his loan comes to an end. Barcelona would then have to decide whether or not they want to keep hold of him or sell him at a profit.

A good move for Casado?

A loan move to Deportivo La Coruna is a last-minute solution Casado won’t mind given that the midfielder was struggling to find suitors who are willing to meet Barcelona’s demands this summer.

But the midfielder would have ideally liked to play for a club that can offer Champions League or at least Europa League football.

In that respect, a club like Bayer Leverkusen or Besiktas could have worked out well for the Spaniard.

Nevertheless, Casado is expected to get regular game-time at Deportivo and it will be integral for him to continue his progress.

A good season on loan at Depor could go a long way in helping him find a better club next summer or better yet, a place in Hansi Flick’s setup for next season, although that appears to be difficult for the moment.
