Barcelona new signing trains by himself at club facilities, could debut vs Valencia | OneFootball

According to Mundo Deportivo, FC Barcelona deadline-day signing Gabriel Jesus took part in an individual training session at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper today.

Indeed, the Brazilian forward trained individually at the club facilities, as the rest of the squad did not hold a joint training session on Wednesday.

He is expected to train with his new teammates for the first time on Thursday, when he should also get his first opportunity to work on the pitch with a ball.

Debut vs Valencia possible

The report further states that Jesus is expected to be included in the squad for Barcelona’s fourth La Liga fixture of the season, when Hansi Flick’s side travel to face Valencia at Mestalla.

It could potentially be where the 29-year-old striker makes his first appearance in the Blaugrana shirt, although the final decision will be up to manager Hansi Flick.

The Brazilian arrives after completing pre-season under Mikel Arteta at Arsenal, featuring in three matches without completing 90 minutes in any of them.

His only pre-season goal came in the Trofeu Costa Brava, when Arsenal faced Girona at Montilivi.

A full recovery after his serious knee injury

Jesus returned to action in December 2025 after recovering from a cruciate ligament injury that had kept him out for almost a year.

As the second half of last season progressed, the Brazilian gradually regained his rhythm. Arsenal ultimately went on to win the Premier League and reached the Champions League final where they lost to PSG.

The 29-year-old forward did not feature in that final, but his increasing involvement during the latter stages of the campaign means he arrives at Barcelona fully recovered from his previous injury problems.

Barcelona signed Jesus for €10 million in fixed payments plus a further €4 million in variables. He has signed a three-year contract with the Catalan capital until 2029.

Having had his first training session with the club today, Jesus could make his maiden appearance in the Blaugrana colours this weekend when they take on Valencia, provided Flick considers him to be ready.
