Barcelona players very unhappy with training exile decision | OneFootball

Earlier this week, Roony Bardghji suffered an ACL injury during Barcelona training, meaning that he will be out for at least 6-7 months. It means that the club’s plans to move him on this summer have gone up in smoke, and thus, further precautions have been taken when it comes to the other players that do not count for Hansi Flick.

Barcelona have identified a total of six players that can leave before the summer transfer window closes on the 1st of September, among them Marc Casado and Hector Fort. The group have been ordered to train away from their teammates so as to avoid a similar situation to the one with Bardghji, although this has not gone down well.

As per Sport, the decision to exile the group of six players, which consists of Casado, Fort, Jofre Torrents, Tommy Marques, Toni Fernandez and Guille Fernandez, has been labelled as an “unfair decision” by those Barcelona players involved, with claims also that it has “upset the dressing room”. Furthermore, there is a feeling among some that exits have been blocked due to the club setting “very high transfer fees”.

Pushback on exile decision is understandable

The decision to have Casado, Fort, Torrents, Marques and the Fernandez cousins training away from their teammates is a very contentious topic. On one hand, it is smart for Barcelona to avoid any further injury blows in wake of the Bardghji news, but at the same time, it will not be a nice feeling for those involved – they will certainly feel like they have been “exiled”.

Barcelona cannot afford this issue to spiral out of control, as it could negatively affect their preparation for the new season, which gets underway for them in 11 days’ time. Flick will be keen to keep his players happy and motivated, but it may be more difficult than first thought.
