FC Barcelona had mixed news from Spain camp on Tuesday, with Joan Garcia taking another step forward while Lamine Yamal followed a more cautious plan away from the main group.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Joan trained for the first time under Luis de la Fuente with Spain’s senior side. The goalkeeper began with the group, doing running work and the usual rondos, before later moving into the specific goalkeeping drills alongside Unai Simon, David Raya and Alex Remiro.
That is an encouraging sign from a Barcelona perspective. Joan is not only settling into his first senior Spain call-up, he is already working normally enough to take part in the session structure before joining the other keepers for specialist work.
Lamine’s situation was more careful. The report says he trained on the sidelines rather than with the main group, doing stationary bike work on the pitch alongside Aymeric Laporte and Marcos Llorente while the rest of the squad trained on the grass.
It is not a fresh injury concern but merely workload management. Lamine is one of the players the club most need fresh for the run-in, so a controlled session during the break is far better than pushing him through unnecessary work.
With as many as 7 players with the Spain national team, Barcelona’s only wish would be for them to come back unscathed and be fit and in form for the important run-in. From that perspective, its a great thing that De La Fuente is taking care of Lamine with utmost caution.
