Barcelona star Andreas Christensen is currently working hard in efforts to secure for himself a new contract with the club.

This comes ahead of the expiration of his current terms next summer.

Christensen is for his part of course fresh off providing a timely reminder to manager Hansi Flick and his staff of his unquestionable talents when firing on all cylinders.

En route to a 2-0 Copa del Rey downing of Guadalajara in midweek, the Dane proved himself the star of the show, opening the game’s scoring amid a Man of the Match display.

And this may well have marked the first step in Christensen maintaining his status as a Barcelona player through next summer.

As per a report from Mundo Deportivo:

‘Before considering a possible contract renewal, which would involve a pay cut, the Barcelona club wants to see if the Dane can maintain the level of performance he showed in Guadalajara.’

Christensen is for his part nothing short of desperate to stay put at the Spotify Camp Nou, but will need to perform to a high level for the remainder of the term to maximise his chances of as much.
