Barcelona star Lamine Yamal receives Ballon d’Or warning from Bayern Munich chief | OneFootball

There is only around a month left before the next Ballon d’Or winner will be revealed, and several candidates are vying for this award this year, with no clear favorites so far. From the FC Barcelona team, Lamine Yamal, Rodri Hernandez, and Pau Cubarsi have been named among the 30-man shortlist for this award.

Among these three players, the winger is the one with the highest chances of winning the Ballon d’Or, and the Blaugrana club is also pushing for him to get this recognition this year. Meanwhile, the player himself is confident that he deserves to win, and most recently expressed this sentiment as he appeared in an interview with Jorge Valdano.

One of the main candidates with whom Yamal would have to vie for the award will be the Bayern Munich forward Harry Kane, and as Diario AS has reported, Max Eberl, the Bayern Sporting Director, responded to Yamal’s comments after his side’s 7-0 win over Union Berlin.

“I don’t want to talk too much about myself. I do my talking on the pitch. Everyone is different. Lamine Yamal had a great season, and so did Michael Olise. The Ballon d’Or is not in my hands.”

“Lamine? I don’t know what he meant by it. He is an incredible player. He had a great season, as did many others. Mbappé, Michael [Olise], Rodri… There are many candidates.”

In another report, Diario AS notes that another unexpected shot at Yamal came from Union Berlin, who put up a sarcastic tweet after conceding seven goals in their match against Bayern, which went as follows:

“Couldn’t this 19-year-old cheeky youngster from Barcelona simply have kept his mouth shut? Kane and Olise are really on fire today and proving that they are Ballon d’Or material.”

For now, it remains to be seen which of these players will win the Ballon d’Or, but these comments from Lamine Yamal, other Barcelona players supporting him, and his opponents will only make the award even more interesting this year.
