Barcelona star misses training before Valencia

Barcelona star Lamine Yamal was forced to sit out group training with the rest of the club’s first-team squad on Saturday morning. Manager Hansi Flick, though, has since assured that there is no cause for concern.

Barca are of course primed to return to action on Sunday. Fresh off a trio of wins to open the defence of their La Liga title, the Blaugrana have been pencilled in for a trip to Mestalla to face Valencia.

Flick and co. head into the fixture in the knowledge that, after Real Madrid’s defeat to Real Betis on Friday, another three-point haul would see them open an early advantage atop the Spanish top-flight table.

On Saturday morning, Barcelona’s players were in turn put through their final preparations for the matchup at the Ciutat Esportiva.

As confirmed by Diario AS, however, playing no part in group drills was the aforementioned Lamine Yamal, who was instead put through an individualised session in the gym.

Speaking to the media during his pre-match press conference, Hansi Flick was therefore drawn on his young winger’s status to face Valencia. And the German tactician went on to explain:

“He had a knock and it was better for him to train at a reduced pace. He went out to train later. He’s perfectly fine for tomorrow.”
