Barcelona star speaks out on Dani Olmo competition | OneFootball

Barcelona star Fermín López has this week provided an insight into how he deals with the competition for places between he and Blaugrana teammate Dani Olmo.

The no.10 spot is of course one of the more hotly contested spots in the star-studded XI of Barcelona boss Hansi Flick.

Whilst a number of the Blaugrana’s leading stars across other areas of the pitch are considered untouchable, the aforementioned Fermín and Olmo have long been fighting it out for starting rights.

To this point in the season, the former has edged out his Spanish compatriot, with five starts to Olmo’s three. And Fermín has responded with an impressive haul of six direct goal contributions.

Speaking during an interview with Mundo Deportivo this week, the 23-year-old was therefore drawn on the competition for the attacking midfield berth in Catalunya’s capital.

And Fermín went on to explain:

”Dani and I know what it’s like at Barça, that there’s competition. The manager knows it too; it’s very difficult for him. He has to choose a starting eleven every weekend, but he and I get along very well. He’s one of the guys I get along with best on the team. So, in the end, it’s a competition between us; the manager decides who plays, and we try to do our best for each other.”
