Barcelona star speaks out on Ferran Torres’ decision to depart | OneFootball

Barcelona star Fermín López has this week provided his take on the decision of compatriot and now-former Blaugrana teammate Ferran Torres to bring a close to his Camp Nou stint this summer.

Frontman Ferran is of course fresh off departing La Liga, for a new adventure in Ligue 1.

Ahead of the expiration of his Barcelona contract terms in 12 months’ time, the 26-year-old made the call to seek out a new chapter, with reigning back-to-back Champions League holders Paris Saint-Germain.

The decision came as a surprise to many, with Ferran, after Robert Lewandowski’s departure, having potentially been looking at consistent starting minutes in Hansi Flick’s frontline this coming season.

During an appearance in front of the media this week, the aforementioned Fermín López was therefore asked if he had any insight into Ferran’s call.

And the midfielder, speaking to Diari ARA, went on to explain:

“These are personal decisions and I don’t have all the information, but for me it’s a shame because he was a great teammate and a good player. I wish him all the best.

“Did I try to convince him to stay? I messaged him when he left to say goodbye. I don’t need to convince him. It was his personal decision, and I’m happy as long as he’s happy.”
