Julian Alvarez approached

Indeed, according to MARCA, one of the presidential candidates competing against Laporta has reached out to Atletico Madrid superstar Julian Alvarez, who is a summer target for Barcelona.

The Atletico Madrid striker, who has not reached the expected level this season, could change clubs this summer.

At least one candidate for the Barça presidency has already contacted the player’s entourage in an attempt to make him the marquee signing for the next campaign.

Arriving at the election campaign with a player of this calibre would be a highly significant statement of intent, especially given the highly likely departure of Robert Lewandowski.

In that scenario, Barcelona would need a partner for Ferran Torres in attack, as he would otherwise be left as the only option in that position.

Alvarez’s situation at Atletico Madrid has become more complicated this season. Despite being a regular starter, he has struggled to find the net consistently and has lost some of his influence in the team.

However, it must be noted that Atletico paid a very large fee to sign the forward from Manchester City and will not make his departure easy.

But Barcelona have strong sporting arguments to convince the World Cup winner, and that is a key factor in an operation of this kind.

Now, with the electoral process underway, one of the candidates has contacted Alvarez’s entourage to explore the possibility of a summer move.
