According to Mundo Deportivo, Julian Alvarez has reached the end of his patience.

The Argentine striker was left deeply frustrated after being unable to speak with Diego Simeone on Monday to ask the Atletico Madrid coach to help facilitate his departure, as he looks to join Barcelona.

Alvarez had expected to meet with Simeone, but the Atletico coach had left for Ibiza for two days. Miguel Angel Gil Marin, the club’s CEO and another key figure in any potential transfer, was also away and unavailable.

The situation pushed Alvarez over the edge. According to the report, the striker told people around him at the training ground that they should no longer count on him and that he was prepared to take a firm stance to force the situation.

Alvarez wanted dialogue

Alvarez is particularly unhappy with Simeone because he believes the coach should have been willing to confront the situation and speak with him directly.

The striker had made it known that he planned to meet with Simeone in an attempt to find a solution. He was therefore surprised to discover that the coach had travelled to Ibiza despite knowing that the Argentine was returning and wanted to talk.

The striker is also frustrated with Gil Marin, who could play an important role in resolving his situation but was likewise unavailable.

Alvarez had hoped to handle the matter through dialogue rather than confrontation. Instead, he feels that opportunity has been taken away from him.

“Don’t count on me”

The result was a dramatic escalation. Those around Alvarez at the training ground heard a clear message from the forward: “Don’t count on me.”

He also made it clear that he intends to stand his ground rather than simply accept the club’s position.

The expectation is that Alvarez will put that stance into practice next Wednesday, when Simeone is scheduled to return to oversee Atlético’s training session.

At that point, the Argentine believes the coach will have no reason to avoid the conversation.

All in on Barcelona

Alvarez maintains that he has had a promise from Atletico since February that the club would allow him to leave this summer. That belief has become central to his current position.

With his patience now exhausted, the Argentine is prepared to push much harder for a move, with Barcelona remaining his preferred destination.

What began as an attempt to resolve the situation privately through conversations with Simeone and Gil Marin has now become a much more serious confrontation between Alvarez and Atletico.

And next Wednesday could be the moment when the standoff truly begins.
