Barcelona to pursue key transfer target again in January despite Gabriel Jesus signing

FC Barcelona have been looking to sign a forward throughout the summer transfer window. However, that particular target ended up being way more complicated to acquire than many would have assumed at the beginning of the window.

Ultimately, it seems that the Catalan club has decided to trust a low-cost alternative for now, at least for this season. That alternative is none other than Brazilian forward Gabriel Jesus, who has been signed from Arsenal on a two-year deal that could potentially be extended by another year if all parties are in agreement to do so.

However, it would appear that the arrival of the Brazilian forward does not mean that the arrival of another key target is ruled out. In fact, according to SPORT, Barça’s dream of signing Julian Alvarez has not been abandoned just yet and the club plans to pursue him in the January transfer window as well.

The reason for this is that La Blaugrana genuinely believe that there would be no point in pushing for his signing in these final hours of the summer transfer window. Atletico Madrid have already complicated things as much as possible, so it would be best to wait a bit longer before they attempt to sign the player again.

Moreover, the report claims that Barça is hopeful of things changing between now and the winter transfer window. With several months left between now and then, perhaps the Alvarez situation worsens and Atletico Madrid’s currently rigid stance could potentially shift by then.
