Barcelona transfer files: Every major deal still being worked on before deadline day | OneFootball

Barcelona are approaching the final stage of a busy summer transfer window, with Gabriel Jesus’ arrival from Arsenal now the only outstanding first-team signing before attention turns towards departures.

The Catalan club have already strengthened several areas of the squad, bringing in Anthony Gordon, Karim Adeyemi, Dominik Livakovic and Rodri, while Jesse Bisiwu has also arrived to bolster the academy.

Gabriel Jesus is now waiting to complete the final steps of his move. Barcelona have agreed a €10 million deal with Arsenal and the Brazilian striker is due to undergo his medical before the transfer can be formally announced.

Once that is completed, Barcelona’s priority will shift towards reducing the squad and finding permanent solutions for several players whose futures remain unresolved.

The final goalkeeping decision

For now, the goalkeeper situation has also become clearer following Livakovic’s arrival. 

Initial suggestions pointed towards a loan for the Croatian, but the expectation is that the 31-year-old will remain with the first team as Joan Garcia’s backup.

That would leave Wojciech Szczesny further down the hierarchy.

The Polish goalkeeper is now 36, and Livakovic’s experience is expected to see him move ahead of Szczesny in the competition for the reserve role.

Barcelona prepare for a busy period of exits

Right now, Marc Casado is among the players whose situation requires particular attention.

Interest has emerged from Benfica, who are working on a loan proposal with an option to buy, while Besiktas are interested in a simple loan.

Barcelona would prefer a different outcome, with the club looking for a permanent transfer rather than simply sending Casado away temporarily.

Alejandro Balde’s future is another file Barcelona have yet to close.

Manchester United have explored the possibility of signing the left-back, but their reluctance to meet Barcelona’s €40 million valuation has prevented the talks from developing into a straightforward transfer.

There is also an alternative scenario involving Inter Milan. Barcelona have discussed a potential swap deal involving Balde and Federico Dimarco, although the complexity of such an operation makes it difficult to complete with the deadline approaching.

Balde himself remains keen to stay and compete for his place, adding another complication to Barcelona’s plans.

Barcelona want control over their young players’ futures

On the other hand, several younger players are also heading towards the exit.

Guille Fernandez is expected to leave, with Barcelona seeking a permanent sale while retaining a significant percentage of his future rights and including a buy-back clause. 

On that note, several Segunda Division clubs have shown interest.

Toni Fernandez, meanwhile, is set to join Venezia, while Alvaro Cortes is also expected to leave on a permanent basis.

Simply put, the final days of the window will therefore be less about adding players and more about managing the squad Barcelona already have.
