Barcelona and Getafe go head-to-head in La Liga on Sunday evening. Both sides will be searching to continue their impressive starts to the campaign, with the Catalan giants sitting second in the table while their Madrid-based opponents occupy sixth position.
Joan García made his impressive Champions League debut against Newcastle United and is set to retain his place in the starting XI. The Blaugrana will be without several key players though, with Lamine Yamal remaining sidelined due to a groin injury sustained on international duty. The Spanish winger has been ruled out of the last two matches and his return remains uncertain.
Marc-André ter Stegen continues his recovery from back surgery and will not be available for selection until later in the year. Alejandro Balde is also out with a hamstring injury suffered in training earlier this month, with the defender not expected to return until October. Gavi remains unavailable due to ongoing knee problems, with an operation not ruled out at this stage.
Marcus Rashford is expected to continue in the starting eleven following his impressive two-goal performance against Newcastle United in the Champions League. Manager Hansi Flick praised the English forward’s finishing ability and impact since joining from Manchester United on loan.
Getafe has injury concerns over Juanmi, who continues to deal with knee problems. The forward has been ruled out and remains in the recovery process according to recent updates.
Luis Milla has been in excellent form for José Bordalás’ side, providing four assists in four La Liga appearances this season. The midfielder will be crucial to Getafe’s attacking play. Adrián Liso has emerged as a key player, scoring three goals in four matches and establishing himself as one of the club’s main threats.
Hansi Flick’s side has made an impressive start to the new campaign. The Blaugrana secured a dominant 6-0 victory over Valencia in their last La Liga outing, with goals from Fermín López, Raphinha, and Robert Lewandowski. Their recent form was further boosted by a 2-1 Champions League victory over Newcastle United, where Marcus Rashford scored both goals in his return to England.
Barcelona currently sit second in La Liga with 10 points from four matches, having won three and drawn one. The team has found their rhythm under Flick this season as well.
José Bordalás’ team have enjoyed a strong start to the 2025/26 campaign. Getafe have accumulated nine points from their opening four matches, winning three and losing once, placing them in sixth position in the table. The Azulones have shown resilience and organisation, maintaining their reputation as a difficult opponent for any team in La Liga.
