Barcelona winger set to join pre-season camp tomorrow as huge challenge awaits | OneFootball

According to MARCA, Raphinha is set to join FC Barcelona’s pre-season training camp at St. George’s Park on Wednesday after the squad travelled to England earlier this week.

The winger will join the rest of the squad after having completed his vacations following a disappointing World Cup campaign with Brazil during which he suffered an injury.

The Brazilian international faces a demanding season ahead, with growing competition for places and continued speculation over his future.

Gordon Arrival Increases Competition

Raphinha is about to begin his fifth season at Barcelona with the same ambition and determination that have defined his time at the club.

The 29-year-old remains happy at Barcelona, but his path to regular playing time has become more challenging.

Barça invested heavily to sign Anthony Gordon from Newcastle United in a deal worth €70 million, with a further €10 million in potential add-ons and followed up with the signing of Karim Adeyemi.

The German is also capable of operating on the left flank, while both new signings offer pace, dribbling ability, link-up play and goals. Hansi Flick also has additional options for the position, including Fermin Lopez and Ferran Torres.

Determined to fight for his place

Given the situation, there has been some speculation surrounding Raphinha’s future. While some executives would not oppose a transfer should a significant offer arrive, the winger has no plans of leaving.

Indeed, the Brazilian rejected lucrative offers from Saudi Arabia in the past and during this summer, making it clear that he wants to remain at Barcelona. He is under contract until June 2028 and intends to see out his deal.

Those in favour of a transfer also point to the fact that Raphinha missed 17 matches through injury last season, something that has raised concerns about his long-term reliability.

Flick continues to back him

Despite the speculation, Flick remains satisfied with Raphinha’s performances and values the leadership and guidance he provides to the younger members of the squad. Sporting director Deco also supports his continued presence at the club.

As things stand, Raphinha has no intention of leaving Barcelona and is prepared to compete for his place in the squad.

As he joins the team’s pre-season camp, the Brazilian is fully aware of the challenge ahead and is determined to prove that he still has an important role to play under Flick.
