Barcelona’s latest signing arrives in the city; set to sign a four-year deal | OneFootball

Last week, Barcelona made a surprising move in the market by pouncing upon an opportunity to sign Dominik Livakovic.

The goalkeeper from Fenerbahce was signed with the long-term view of replacing Wojciech Szczesny from next season onwards.

Keeping that in mind, Livakovic was expected to return to Fenerbahce on loan before coming back to Camp Nou next summer.

However, since then, there have been conflicting reports on Livakovic, with some outlets claiming that Barcelona might choose to retain his services this season.

Livakovic arrives in Barcelona

In the midst of all this, Victor Navarro has confirmed with visuals that Livakovic has already arrived in Barcelona to officiate his move.

The goalkeeper is expected to sign a four-year contract with Barcelona, in what can be considered a rather surprising move for the Croatian shot-stopper.

Livakovic is also expected to undergo a medical test tomorrow, after which Barcelona will be free to announce his arrival at the club.

However, what makes this entire saga interesting is that no one is sure what the future holds of Livakovic this season.

As mentioned earlier, there have been conflicting reports surrounding his future, with some believing that he could be loaned back Fenerbahce while others believe he could stay at Camp Nou.

Reports earlier in the day have indicated that Livakovic will, in fact, remain at Barcelona this season and serve as an immediate alternative for Joan Garcia.

That means Szczesny will become the third-goalkeeper for Barcelona, which is not surprising given that the Pole has evidently taken on a more mentorship role. His fitness and form were also questionable last season when he was deputising for Garcia.

Livakovic, in that sense, is coming on the back of a strong season in the Croatian top division, having retained 10 clean sheets in 14 matches during his loan spell at Dinamo Zagreb last season.

The Croatian also has 79 caps for the Croatian national team, making him a smart investment for the Blaugrana.
