Bayer Leverkusen have completed the signing of Ivory Coast international Guéla Doué from Racing Strasbourg. The 23-year-old right-back has agreed a five-year contract to June 2031 and will wear number 20.

Transfermarkt reports that Leverkusen will pay an initial €30m, with performance-related add-ons potentially taking the fee to €36m. If every bonus is met, Doué could surpass Malik Tillman and Jarell Quansah as Bayer’s most expensive signing.

Doué arrives after two seasons with Strasbourg. The French-born defender joined from Stade Rennes in 2024 for about six million euros and quickly became a regular, scoring three goals and providing nine assists in 69 competitive appearances.

He is the older brother of Paris Saint-Germain’s Désiré Doué and has established himself at senior international level with the Ivory Coast. He featured in all four of his country’s matches at the 2026 World Cup.

His arrival gives Leverkusen the specialist right-back they had been seeking late in the window. Lucas Vázquez represents his most obvious competition for the role following an extensive summer rebuild of the squad.
