Bayer Leverkusen have struck a €37,5m agreement with BlueCo-owned Ligue 1 side RC Strasbourg Alsace to sign Ivory Coast international full-back Guéla Doué (23), according to Fabrizio Romano. Désiré Doué’s younger brother didn’t feature for the Alsatians in their 2-1 home Ligue 1 win against Lens. Doué is the latest key Strasbourg player to leave La Meinau this summer, following in the footsteps of Valentin Barco, Diego Moreira and Abdoul Ouattara. The right-back initially joined Strasbourg from Ligue 1 rivals Rennes in a €6m deal.
Carles Martinez Novells’ Bayer Leverkusen were in the market for a right-back given they are short of options in this area, with only the 35-year-old Lucas Vazquez as the sole available option. Bayer Leverkusen have splashed the cash on Ligue 1 players this summer.
Before Guéla Doué’s €37,5m move, Die Werkself signed Afonso Moreira from Lyon and Facundo Medina from Marseille for a combined €52m. Romano understands that Guéla Doué has been allowed to undergo a medical with the Bundesliga side.
