Strasbourg’s Guéla Doué ranks as Bayer Leverkusen top target, but… | OneFootball

RC Strasbourg Alsace’s Guéla Doué (23) is reportedly Bayer Leverkusen’s top priority transfer target, according to information from Kicker.

Whilst neither Lucas Vázquez (35), Arthur (23) nor Axel Tape (19) are considered undisputed first-team regulars at right-back, Doué could, in the eyes of the German club’s management, tick all the boxes.

However, the deal looks set to be anything but straightforward, particularly given the fee of around €40m demanded by Racing to agree to let the Ivorian go. A sum considered far too high for the full-back, whose contract runs until 2029.

Having made 34 appearances across all competitions for Strasbourg last season, Doué shone with his attacking and technical prowess, scoring two goals and providing seven assists.

An Ivorian international (24 caps, three goals), the Angers-born player also distinguished himself at the last World Cup, starting three of the four matches played by the Elephants as they progressed to the round of 16.
