Bayern Munich have thrown their weight behind Harry Kane in the Ballon d'Or race, despite fellow nominees Michael Olise, Luis Diaz and Dayot Upamecano on the 30-man shortlist. L'Équipe reports that the club have opted to champion the England captain.

As in 2013, when Bayern publicly backed Franck Ribéry while Arjen Robben also had a case after Jupp Heynckes' treble, the hierarchy have united again, this time behind Kane, 33. In recent days he has been the focus of a concerted club campaign.

Several team-mates appeared in a video on the club's official channel to make the case for him. Kane scored 61 goals in all competitions in 2025-2026.

Michael Olise said Kane deserves the award because he is simply the best. The France international posted 25 goals and 28 assists in all competitions last season, and could also lay claim to the prize despite a more complicated end to the World Cup.

Unlike Paris-SG, who have chosen not to endorse any candidate, the Bundesliga's most decorated club hope that by backing Kane, the successor to Ousmane Dembélé will be Bavarian, the first since Karl-Heinz Rummenigge in 1981.
