Bayern candidate Diomande: That’s why a transfer is so complicated

FC Bayern are keeping a close eye on Yan Diomande, but a potential move for the Leipzig attacker could turn out to be a delicate balancing act. While there are many sporting arguments in favour of serious interest from Munich, a complex contractual situation is causing considerable uncertainty in the background

According to journalist Sacha Tavolieri, Bayern have expressed their interest and may have already held initial exploratory talks. However, an exclusive agreement is said to exist between Diomande and his former agency Maxidel, which prohibits the 19-year-old from negotiating a transfer via his current advisors

Tricky clauses and potential millions

The potential implications of this agreement are particularly explosive. According to Tavolieri, interested clubs could become legally vulnerable if they do not conduct talks via the agency originally responsible. In addition, a further clause is said to apply: in the event of a breach, Diomande would have to transfer his image rights to Maxidel by January 2031. The estimated value of these rights is therefore over seven million euros

Tavolieri put the problem in a nutshell: if the existence and effectiveness of these clauses is confirmed, „no serious club can take the risk of concluding a transfer before the legal situation has been fully clarified“. For an economically structured club like FC Bayern, a deal under such conditions would involve risks that are almost incalculable

At Säbener Straße, they traditionally pay strict attention to legal cleanliness and economic predictability. Particularly in a phase in which sporting director Max Eberl is initially prioritizing the so-called „internal transfers“ and wants to keep an eye on the salary structure, a potentially conflict-laden transfer is likely to be examined particularly critically

Regardless of the legal situation, there could still be movement in the summer. According to Sport BILD, Diomande’s future depends heavily on the sporting development at RB Leipzig. Should the Saxons fail to qualify for the Champions League, transfer revenue of around 200 million euros would have to be generated

In such a scenario, Diomande is considered one of the hottest sales candidates. The Ivorian was only signed from CD Leganés in the summer of 2025 for around 20 million euros and made an immediate impact in the Bundesliga. With explosive dribbling, pace and strong scoring figures, he quickly played his way into the focus of top international clubs. In addition to FC Bayern, Liverpool, Arsenal, Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid are also said to be keeping a close eye on his development

Internally, Munich have reportedly defined a clear price limit. If the transfer fee is significantly higher than 60 million euros, they would refrain from making a move, especially if there are also legal risks involved

One thing is certain: Diomande fits the requirements profile of the record champions in sporting terms. But before things can become concrete, there must first be legal clarity. Otherwise, a promising transfer target threatens to turn into a complicated hanging game.
