Bayern Munich honorary president Uli Hoeneß says he is deeply worried about Jamal Musiala after the 23-year-old collapsed on the pitch twice in four days.

The Germany international went down during the 3-1 Telekom Cup win over RB Leipzig at the weekend, then again in Tuesday’s 4-2 friendly victory over 1. FC Heidenheim. “Seeing it happen again four days later really shocked me,” said Hoeneß. “I was speechless, which is rare for me,” he told RTL.

Hoeneß had been aware of Musiala’s diagnosis for some time, but watching it manifest in matches left him stunned.

After the second incident, Musiala explained the episodes were brief, temporary and treatable absences caused by a neurological dysfunction. He added he remains optimistic about his treatment and career, and sees no further health risk.

“I go to bed thinking of him and wake up in the morning thinking of him,” said the 74-year-old. “There is unconditional support for Jamal.”
