Bayern learn opponent for second round | OneFootball

Having beaten Osnabrück 4-1 on Wednesday in the first round the 2026/27 DFB Cup, Bayern will now face Magdeburg at the Allianz Arena as they continue their defence of the trophy. The draw for the second round was held on Saturday evening at the German Football Museum in Dortmund, conducted by Bayern legend Bastian Schweinsteiger. The ties will be played on 27/28 October 2026. The German FA will confirm the exact timings in the coming days.

There have only been three previous competitive meetings between Bayern and the current Bundesliga 2 club. The first two were in the 1974/75 European Cup as respective champions of West and East Germany, with Bayern winning over two legs on their way to lifting the trophy. However, Magdeburg got revenge in the 2000/01 DFB Cup when they – as a fourth-tier team at the time – eliminated the Bavarians on penalties in the second round. The one consolation for Bayern was that they again lifted the Champions League that season.
