For players, fans, and neutrals alike, this is a fixture that rarely disappoints, and Gnabry is feeling the buzz just as much as anyone.

Speaking about the excitement surrounding the clash in an interview with AS, the German international did not hide his enthusiasm.

“I feel amazing, of course. I think it’s obviously the talk of the football world. All my friends and family can’t stop talking about the match, so I’m really excited.

“And yes, I’m really looking forward to playing both matches against Real Madrid,” he began.

A European classic

There is a growing belief that Bayern vs Madrid remains the ultimate European showdown.

When asked if it is the defining classic of modern football, Gnabry acknowledged the stature of both clubs while also pointing to Madrid’s recent dominance.

“Of course, there are other big names, but I think right now you could say it is.

“We’re in great form. And so are they. Real Madrid beat Manchester City quite comfortably, which I found a bit unexpected.”

Santiago Bernabeu’s aura

Much of Madrid’s aura comes from their dominance at the Santiago Bernabeu, a stadium that has witnessed countless historic nights.

Gnabry, who has experienced it firsthand, spoke about the unique atmosphere that awaits Bayern.

“I think they’ve proven that time and again. It’s no coincidence that they’re so strong at home, at the Bernabeu.

“I’ve played there and the atmosphere is incredible. It’s a real pleasure to play there. Even if you’re the opposing team, because the atmosphere is mad.”

On Mbappe and Vinicius

Attention naturally turns to Madrid’s star-studded attack, led by Kylian Mbappé and Vinicius Jr.

When asked about their threat, Gnabry was full of praise but also made it clear Bayern are not intimidated.

“They have incredible, highly talented players. Especially in attack, but also in defence, of course.

“Their attack, with Vinicius and Mbappe, certainly stands out. What’s more, Brahim Diaz has been playing very well of late.

“We must be careful, obviously, not to let them do their thing. We need to show them what we’re capable of. And, as a team, we collectively manage everything they bring to the table.

“But I also think a very important part will simply be playing our own game. We have our strengths. So we just need to keep showing them.

“If we give our best on the pitch, our attack is as dangerous as Real Madrid’s. Perhaps one of the best in the world right now.”

Finally, Gnabry was asked specifically about Vinicius, a player often in the spotlight for both his talent and personality.

Having shared the pitch with him before, the Bayern winger offered a respectful view.

“He’s a great player. Some might criticise him, but I’ve played alongside him a couple of times. He’s a really nice bloke.

“He’s shown time and again just how good he is. So, I have a lot of respect for him,” he concluded.
