Herbert Hainer says Bayern Munich could have news on João Palhinha in the next three weeks, a development Benfica are monitoring. According to Glorioso 1904, the president noted interest from several clubs and said negotiations have been tough, yet he is optimistic about updates.
Max Eberl has already placed the Portugal international, together with Sacha Boey and Bryan Zaragoza, among players for whom Bayern are open to proposals. He said they have contracts that must be respected, but added he does not believe Bayern is their future and that any who stay would face a limited role.
Benfica continue to explore the chance of bringing Palhinha back to Portugal, although any bid must satisfy the German club’s demands. From the Premier League, Aston Villa have confirmed talks for the 31-year-old midfielder.
Last season with Tottenham, Palhinha, valued at €15 million, made 45 appearances in all competitions. That comprised 33 in the Premier League, eight in the Champions League, two in the League Cup, one in the FA Cup and one in the UEFA Super Cup.
Across 2,917 minutes, the midfielder scored seven goals and supplied two assists.
