Bayern’s transfer plan for JJ Gabriel clear after Christoph Freund admission | OneFootball

JJ Gabriel remains firmly on the radar of Bayern Munich ahead of the teenager’s impending exit from Manchester United.

While the 15-year-old has not left the Red Devils in an official capacity (ahead of his 16th birthday), the expectation is that the teenager will seek pastures new shortly.

In that event, a host of top European clubs, including Vincent Kompany’s Bundesliga giants, are ready to throw their hat into the ring.

It’s fair to say that the reports linking Gabriel with a move outside the Premier League has come as something of a shock.

However, regardless of whether or not the powers that be at Old Trafford hold concerns, rightly or wrongly, that the looming exit is agent-motivated, the desire for a fresh start is understandable.

Christian Falk exclusively informed CF Bayern Insider: “I can say that the family – JJ Gabriel’s mother is from Cyprus, and his father, a former Republic of Ireland international – have made a decision that the teenager (15) will definitely leave Manchester United and the Premier League.

“He’s turning 16 on 6th October, at which point he can make key decisions about his future. One such decision will be that he’ll join the agency Epic (of Ali Barat, the agent of the year in 2025). Then there will be decisions for the future; the decision is already made that he’ll leave United.

“There is the special interest of elite European clubs: Bayern Munich (Christoph Freund has already admitted his admiration for the player), PSG, Barcelona, and Real Madrid. These four clubs are famous for winning titles virtually every season.

“That’s why the decision was made that Gabriel would leave United, as they’re not a club currently used to bringing in silverware at any comparable rate of frequency. And he wants to win titles. Look, United are obviously still a big club, but if he can move to a currently elite European outfit, he can have a greater chance of winning titles.”

Life with Manchester United, at a club now accustomed to taking one step forward and then two steps back in perpetuity? Or life at Bayern Munich, a club that dominates domestically and threatens to go deep in the Champions League season after season.

If you ask us, the choice has already been made.

Real Madrid, PSG, Barcelona or Bayern?

The key point here is that Bayern will have some serious competition on their hands.

However, Kompany and Co. could already make a few reasonable points. Firstly, as evidenced by Endrick’s handling in the summer, Jose Mourinho is in no mood to develop youngsters at Real Madrid – he needs bona fide winners now.

So, we’d feel inclined to argue that Bayern’s real competition lies with Barcelona and PSG, or more precisely with Luis Enrique and Hansi Flick; two managers who will give youth a chance.

However, PSG are hardly short of top, young attacking talent in the forward line, especially on the left flank between Mika Godts and the more senior Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. Likewise, in attacking midfield, the Parisians can call upon Dro Fernandez, Fabian Ruiz, Senny Mayulu, and Warren Zaire-Emery. Not a lot of room there then either…

But how about life in Catalonia? Well, Anthony Gordon and Karim Adeyemi are available there. And in midfield, JJ Gabriel would find himself competing with Dani Olmo and Fermin Lopez.

Over at Bayern, however, while the midfield remains well-stocked, it’s worth pointing out that the club is in clear need of reinforcement on the left flank, with Luis Diaz lacking competition. Yes, the hope is that Tim Binder could provide an option here, but there currently remains a pathway (certainly long-term) for a talented footballer to establish themselves.
