Chelsea take on PSG tonight in a Champions League thriller, and any Blues wanting to know more about their opposition can ask Mamadou Sarr.
The young defender has come up against the Parisians plenty of times even in his short career, and he’s confident that he and his youthful teammates can get the job done over two legs.
“I think we are young, but we have a lot of experience. Guys like Reece [James], they won the trophy, they won the Champions League, so I think we can achieve that again,” Sarr said in an exclusive chat with Nizaar Kinsella of the BBC.
“I don’t think it’s about age; I think it’s about mentality and level.”
Liam Rosenior coached Sarr at Strasbourg before they both joined Chelsea, and the defender speaks very positively about what the manager brings and what he’s already learned from the young coach:
“He impressed me with the way he talks to you directly — you feel his passion. I fell in love with his systems and the way he sees the game. I think I understand football more because of him,” Sarr concluded.
Liam Delap is another player who won’t start – and his time at Chelsea is already looking like it could be cut very short.
One move that will definitely be made in the summer is arrival of Geovany Quenda – and there are already plans in place for him.
