Chelsea feel Liam Rosenior is an “elite” coach with huge potential who can bring stability to the club according to Ben Jacobs.

Rosenior was confirmed as Chelsea’s new head coach on Tuesday, and he’s penned a six and a half year contract at Stamford Bridge.

The 41-year-old will be in the stands for Wednesday’s game against Fulham, and will take charge of his first game against Charlton in the FA Cup on Saturday.

Chelsea feel Liam Rosenior is an “elite” coach

Enzo Maresca left the club on New Year’s Day after 18 months in charge, and the Blues reportedly feel Rosenior will be a “better fit” as head coach.

Rosenior’s appointment has been criticised, with both fans and pundits not entirely convinced, and it’s up to him to win people over.

The Englishman will be under pressure to deliver from day one, and Jacobs has reported for Give Me Sport Chelsea believe Rosenior is an elite coach with huge potential.

The report adds the Blues feel he can bring continuity and stability to the project, whilst it’s seen as a positive he has several pre-existing relationships with the club’s leadership and sporting teams.

Calum McFarlane to lead the team against Fulham

Whilst Rosenior will be watching closely from the stands, Calum McFarlane will once again lead the team at Craven Cottage.

The under-21s boss oversaw a 1-1 draw at The Etihad on Sunday, and will be looking to build on that performance with three points at Craven Cottage.

Chelsea have been boosted by the return of Moises Caicedo from suspension, whilst they also hope to have Wesley Fofana, Robert Sanchez and Marc Cucurella available again.

McFarlane has also confirmed Cole Palmer is in a good place after his first 90 minutes since September, and Chelsea should be in a stronger position than they were against Manchester City.
