Benfica reject Al Ittihad bid for Leandro Barreiro and hold firm | OneFootball

Benfica have rejected a bid from Al Ittihad for Leandro Barreiro.

According to CNN Portugal, the Saudi club tabled 14 million euros guaranteed with a further 2 million in add-ons. Benfica indicated that any talks would require a higher outlay.

The interest is notable with Jens Wissing now in charge at Al Ittihad. He previously worked as Roger Schmidt’s assistant during the German’s time at Benfica, and knows Barreiro from their spell together at the club.

Barreiro has been a regular under Marco Silva at the start of this season, taking on a prominent role in Benfica’s midfield. He has met the manager’s demands and earned consistent minutes.
