Benfica ‘to move’ for Gustavo Puerta if Ríos leaves | OneFootball

AS reports that Benfica have held initial talks with his agent, Miguel Cardona, who represents the Racing Santander player, to understand what a deal would entail.

Puerta aims to join a side competing at the highest level of European football, and he views a switch to Benfica positively. Racing Santander, however, are not minded to ease his departure.

The Spanish club are said to be firm, only prepared to let him go for his release clause, set at 20 million euros. Any approach from Benfica would therefore require a significant outlay.

Despite the interest and early contact, Benfica would only make a concrete move if Richard Ríos leaves. Until then, they are monitoring a midfielder who could become an important part of Marco Silva’s future midfield.
