Gustavo Puerta not on Benfica shortlist at present | OneFootball

Benfica are not pursuing Gustavo Puerta, with the 23-year-old Colombian midfielder not on the club’s shortlist to strengthen Marco Silva’s squad, according to Glorioso 1904.

Puerta, of Racing Santander, had been linked as a possible replacement for Richard Ríos, but there is no intention at present to move for his signing.

Interest in Benfica’s No 20 from abroad has continued, with Newcastle and Napoli monitoring his situation, which in turn fuelled talk of a successor.

In that context Puerta was among names said to be considered. His profile rose further at the 2026 World Cup, where he started every match for Colombia.

Last season he made 33 appearances for Racing Santander, 32 in La Liga and one in the Copa del Rey. Across 2,715 minutes he scored three goals and provided one assist. He is valued at €18 million.
